KCnet, Inc. Announces 'Carbon Neutral' Project

KCnet, Inc., a local Kansas City Internet Service Provider, today announced an initiative that will make their offices and network facilities carbon neutral, a first step in their commitment to greener working practices.

KCnet is investing in wind farm technologies and methane capture programs as part of its carbon offsetting project. The projects are designed to support local economies as well as reduce carbon dioxide. The company is also actively working to reduce electrical consumption, business travel, and employee commuting.

“We have sought to minimize our company’s environmental impact from the beginning and are very excited to have the opportunity to work to further decrease our eco footprint,” said James Nelson of KCnet, Inc. “We are dedicated to providing a service to our customers’ that is fast, reliable, and environmentally friendly.”

KCnet is also encouraging its customers to follow their example by providing "Green" versions of their most popular services: high-speed DSL, dial-up Internet access and Web site hosting. Whenever a customer subscribes to a "Green" service, KCnet will donate a portion of the monthly subscription fee to the purchase of additional carbon offsets, helping customers to reduce their own environmental impact.
